Helen Hayes Hospital Expo Coming To West Haverstraw

WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Helen Hayes Hospital Adapted Sports, Recreation and Living Expo will take place Saturday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the HHH Atrium, Route 9W in West Haverstraw. 

Expo guests will also get a special first look at Helen Hayes Hospital’s new single-driver golf carts, which allow golfers with disabilities to play from an assisted standing position.

BraunAbility has partnered with Ford to create the industry’s first wheelchair accessible SUV — and it will be coming to the expo. Visitors will get a chance to check out the stylish BraunAbility Ford Explorer MXV and other state-of-the-art adaptive equipment for free. 

Expo guests will also get a special first look at Helen Hayes Hospital’s new single-driver golf carts, which allow golfers with disabilities to play from an assisted standing position. 

The hospital’s custom-designed Adaptive Driving Evaluation Van —used for driver evaluation and training with adapted driving devices— will also be on-site, along with adapted kayaks, water skis, handcyles, rowing machines and more for visitors who would like to explore new sports and recreation options. 

The seventh annual Adapted Sports, Recreation and Living Expo will showcase adapted sports and recreation opportunities, as well as a variety of products and services for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and their families or caregivers. Exhibitors for 2016 include the 1Touch Project, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, The Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Push to Walk, and the Nyack Boat Club Adapted Sailing Program. 

Additional representatives will be on-hand from companies and organizations offering auto and van conversions, wheelchairs and scooters, adapted and durable medical equipment, ramps, lifts, advocacy and law services, adapted sports activities and more.
